Alexandru Răcean (RA-Pigeons), the national champion of the Youngsters Breeders category 2024

Alexandru Răcean is an experienced pigeon fancier, member of the Columbophile Cluj Branch. In the past he formed a successful team with his colleague Lucian Marchiș, becoming some of the best pigeon fanciers in Transylvania and even national champions several times. At the end of 2017, Alexandru Răcean thought it was time for a break, which lasted for five years. It returned to competition in 2023, competing under the RA-Pigeons title, and the results were not long in coming. Competing with the 2023 youngsters, he managed to take the 2nd and 3rd places in the county in the As Speed ​​ youngsters category. In the 2024 season, Alexandru Răcean takes the 1st place in the national Youngsters Breeders with a perfect performance.

Since returning to competition, Alexandru Răcean decided to compete only with chickens. Contrary to expectations, it competes with a small team of pigeons and without a special system for youngsters.

In the flight plan with the youngsters on which Alexandru Răcean competed in the 2024 season, seven competitions were organized, all of them Speed ​​(127-207 km for his loft). The pigeon fancier from Cluj started the season with 28 youngsters and managed to win 1st place among breeders six times, a performance that brought him the national title in the Youngsters Breeders category, with a coefficient of 25.40 penalty points. At the county level, Alexandru Răcean is also the champion of the Speed youngsters ​​category.

It is interesting that the youngsters from Alexandru Răcean's flight team were not competed according to the "dark method", so widespread in our country and used by most of those who perform in competitions with youngsters. Thus, we can consider RA-Pigeons to be the exception to the rule or the exception that strengthens the rule. In any case, it is a sure example that good pigeons can perform on any system!
