        After the presentation of the winners from most of the groups in the country, it was the turn of the Hungarian neighbors, recognized over time for the quality of the pigeons in the one-day races.

        When we say Hungary, we say two names by which the columbophilia of this country is identified, the late geneticist professor Alfonz Anker and the multiple National and Olympic Champion Horvath Karoly.

        In the case of the first one, this had perhaps the biggest contribution of pigeon fanciers in Hungary for the theories of breeding, inbreeding and hydridation of pigeons which are still applied today by many pigeon fanciers.

        He stood out in 1972 with the book "The Riddle of the Flyers" which was translated into most languages of international circulation, being still considered the "bible" of pigeon breeders.

        Today, in his memory, right on the wall of his mother's house in Komarom, there is a memorial plaque erected by the Hungarian state for special merits and for his participation in the conference of geneticists in Berlin in 1969.

        In the case of the second, Horvath Karoly identified himself at the beginning of his career through the special results obtained in the Hungarian championship and at the international level.

        Being impossible to stop at a given moment, he was "forbidden" to play in the Hungarian championship, and so perhaps out of the desire to continue to demonstrate his incomprehensible flair, he became a manager in various kennels.

        In the position of manager of the well-known breeder Olteanu Cosmin from Prahove, she worked wonders, managing to obtain an impressive series of awards at the national level. He shocked the whole of Romania with his ability to "talk" to the pigeons, to "train" them, but above all to express their qualities as super champions.

        Currently, this is the manager of the Attila Szomora kennel, with whom he has been a friend for several decades.

        For Attila, pigeon racing started as a small child, but he participated in competitions for the first time in 2012 with pigeons from the breeding of his good friend Horvath Karoly, after which he took a break and returned to this sport starting in 2020.

        Based on the friendship he had with Horvath, he could only start again with him and with his pigeons who consecrated him over time. Last year, they mostly focused on selecting a reproduction of value, on what a lasting future management means, so that starting this year, they will compete for the first time at their true potential.

        Once Horvath Karoly was involved in the new project with his friend Atilla, the entire Hungarian pigeon fancier was watching him, and as expected, the results did not stop appearing in the new season.

        Out of the 12 competitions organized so far, they managed to win 10 and more, dominating them in an incredibly understandable way:

        Only far from last week, in the competition launched in the town of Holic, they managed to get the first 18 places in the general classification against the 1526 birds engaged from a distance of 220 km.

        ,, In the future we want to have as much success as possible in the championship and even to be present at the next pigeon-loving Olympics. Although last season we managed 3rd and 8th place in the Speed category and 7th place in the Central European Cup, we hope to get much better results to be proud of,'' Attila Szomora told us.
