In the 2023 season, no less than 2,270 norms were achieved in the Long distance category, a category which, as is well known, is achieved by ranking three competitions with a distance of over 500 km.
Among them, the best pigeons in this category belong, in order of places in the national ranking, to pigeon fans George Vochin, Radu Constantin and Eugen Silivestru.
George Vochin wins a new national cup
The fancier George Vochin, from Craiova, respected his well-deserved status as a champion in the 2023 season, winning a new national cup. This time he prevailed in the Long distance category, with the help of female RO-2019-0017935, who covered a total of 1,598 km and accumulated 6.15 penalty points. The contests with which he achieved this feat were three races in Antonești, Republic of Moldova, where he had a distance of 533 km. At these stages he took 1st place out of 2,365 pigeons, 6th out of 3,272 pigeons and 9th out of 2,308 pigeons.
Radu Constantin in second place
The national vice-champion of the category is Radu Constantin from Bucharest, who occupies this position with male RO-2019-2000579. His score was only 6.28 penalty points, achieved after placing 2nd out of 1,105 pigeons, 3rd out of 1,504 pigeons and 28th out of 11,340 pigeons. All three classifications were achieved at the 645 km Medyka race, from Poland.
Eugen Silivestru in third place
The national podium is completed by Eugen Silivestru, a pigeon fancier from the Ialomita Branch. His performer is also a male, who has the series RO-2021-0308721 and was penalized with 6.28 penalty points, only one hundredth more than the second place holder. His three contests were also launched from Poland, the town of Dolhobyczow, with a distance of 714 km. The rankings with which he got the 3rd national place were 1st out of 672 and 604 pigeons and 3rd out of 958 pigeons.
So, 13 hundredths separate the three pigeons on the national podium of the Mature Long Distance category in the 2023 season. It should be noted that the pigeons in the 2nd and 3rd places are also the representatives of our country in the Columbophile Olympiad in category I.
