Chris Paauwe, an up-and-coming Dutch marathon runner

Chris Paauwe is a Dutch pigeon fancier from Kruiningen, Zeeland province, specializing in morning marathon races (ZLU). Until 2004, Chris competed alongside his father, after which he built his own kennel, from which he still competes today.

From the new location, Chris set off with a batch of 12 youngsters from Hans Eijerkamp & Sons – Zutphen, from the 'Black Giant', 'Drogba', 'Salinero' and 'Daxter' line. In 2008, Chris infused his old line with pigeons from breeders such as Jelle Jellema, Arjan Beens, Ko van Dommelen and Jos Pepping. Starting in 2015, he began to pay more and more attention to the international marathon stages, and the results were not long in coming. In a short time, Chris became one of the best breeders in his province, doubling his results and very good rankings at national level. In 2015, with a small batch of pigeons, Chris Paauwe ranked 26th Nationally at Marathon, and in 2016, with the female "Giant Lady", Chris obtained 5th international As Marseille PIPA 2015/2016 and 23rd As ZLU Marseille 2014-2016. These results were possible after Chris' female placed 14th Nat. against 3,320 pigeons (6:09am); 1 provincial in Zeeland; First pigeon in IFC Zeeland, 45th Int. Marseille against 9,620 pigeons (2015) and 87th Nat. against 3,610 pigeons (in the evening at home, in the evening only 2 pigeons in the province of Zeeland); First pigeon in IFC Zeeland, 188th Int. Marseille against 9,908 pigeons (2016). Giant Lady is bred from two direct Eijerkamp pigeons: her sire is the grandson of Black Giant (van Wanroy) and her dam is the granddaughter of Salinero (Wijnands).

In 2017 Chris achieved a very good ranking in Perpignan with a pigeon that arrived at 23:55 (the only pigeon to arrive in the evening). His results culminated in 2017 when he managed to place on the podium twice in two national marathon races: – 2nd National Dax S1 out of 4,788 pigeons (3rd out of 10,429 pigeons) and 2nd National Bordeaux/Agen Mature ZLU out of 6,219 pigeons (9th place out of 12,158 pigeons).

In addition to these, Chris Paauwe achieved other top rankings. Here it is worth mentioning the 1st place National Narbonne (2022) 6,260 d.; 1st Int. Narbonne yearlings 12,821 d. en 1e Int. Narbonne females 7,778 d., but also 1st place Dax 868 b. 2021; 1. Nat. 5.612 b. S1; 1. Nationaal 11.124 b. But apart from his own results, Chris can also boast of very good references. Thus, the father of the pigeon with the 1st place National Barcelona 2010 out of 12,657 pigeons (2 International out of 25,878 pigeons) was born in the breeding of Chris Paauwe, and the tandem formed by Haeken-Petré won the 10th place National Barcelona 2017 with a pigeon that has origins in Kruiningen.
