Cosmin Leontes, national champion of the All Round Yearlings category 2024

In the previous article, we presented the fact that the 1st and 2nd national places in the All Round Old birds category were won by two pigeon fanciers from Suceava county. At first glance, it doesn't seem like anything out of the ordinary, but those who know the situation know that until some time ago, the pigeon fanciers in this county, like almost the entire province of Moldova, did not attach much importance to the categories with one-day stages . But, things started to change and, especially in 2024, many national trophies in categories with short stages were won by pigeon fans from Moldova.

If in other categories, like Middle distance or All Round Old birds, there were breeders from Moldova on the national podium, but also from other areas of the country, in the All Round Yearlings category the national podium is entirely occupied by pigeon fanciers from Suceava county.

Cosmin Leontes is the national champion

The 1st national place in the All Round Yearlings category was won by the young pigeon fancier Cosmin Leontes, from the town of Clit, Suceava county. He has been competing since the fall of 2021 and prefers the Long Distance and Middle Distance categories, and in the 2024 season he managed to climb the national podium several times. Three times to be exact, all three national trophies being won with the young cock RO-2023-0728784. First of all, this is the national champion of the All Round Yearlings category, with a coefficient of 46.23 penalty points. For relevance, we recall that 23.35 points are only from one stage. Then, the same male is national vice-champion in the As Middle distance category (7 stages of over 300 km), with 94.04 penalty points, and in the Middle distance he ranks 3rd nationally, with 16.67 penalty points, only 6 hundredths of second place! The champion was contested at widowhood.

The national podium of the All Round Yearlings category was completed by pigeon fans George Coroama and Mihai Prelipcean.
