Barcelona Winner Club continues to remain the real challenge of the Romanians, which turns more and more every day from a great dream into a matter of time until one of the pigeons of the Romanian teams will score decisively in the Barcelona race.
Next year's edition of the race from Barcelona will be the first edition in which the Romanian pigeons will plow the skies of Spain and France towards the kennel of the late absolute champion of Germany, Raymund Hermes, a kennel where the magnificent team formed by Sorin Zamfir and Jean Cure-Francois write in continue a beautiful columbophile history.
Only a few weeks have passed since the two accomplished the feat in Vierzon, where the pigeon of the Tunduc Family won the 1st International place, imposing itself in front of the 2316 participating birds of breeders from France and Germany.
And as from competition to competition they get better and it's as if they "read" the secrets of pigeon fanciness on the hills of Althornbach better and better, with a lot of ardor they scored again spectacularly, managing to take the 2nd place out of the 1507 birds participating in the competition International from Bordeaux.
The winning pigeon belongs to the well-known breeder from Bucovina, Lucian Lionte, a great lover of long-distance competitions who has become evident in recent years by his involvement in various pigeon projects aimed at promoting endurance pigeons from the Moldova area.
The competition was characterized as a difficult one, especially since the pigeons spent no less than 4 days in the competition car, the launch only taking place on Sunday at 8:45 a.m. due to the unfavorable conditions in France.
Overall, the contest was a real success, where even the 770 km and the strong side wind from the flight route did not stop the 96 pigeons from arriving on the first day of the contest, of which 26 were in the first 10% of the total number on competition. The pigeons arrived with a very good cadence, occupying places 2, 20, 21, 29, 30, 34, 35, 56, 57, 58, 63, 64, etc...
A 2nd place is a new success for the Romanians, a success in which over 80% of the pigeons employed in Bordeaux have arrived at the loft on the hills of Althornbach, waiting for the new edition of the Barcelona race in 2024.
