Lubartow 1, the Marathon race of Dolj, won by the Scorțar Brothers and Adrian Iordache

For the first race of the Marathon in Oltenia province, pigeon lovers from Dolj, Mehedinți and Gorj counties joined forces. As expected, and respecting the note in which the whole season has been held so far, the first Marathon contest was a very difficult one. 

Lubartow was the Polish town from which the pigeons were launched for the first Marathon competition organized by Dolj County. From this Branch, 2,748 pigeons were basketed, with 223 breeders participating. Another 62 breeders from Gorj county, with 275 pigeons, and 147 breeders from Mehedinți county, with 1,788 pigeons were added to them.

The first place in pigeons was won by Frații Scorțar

The 4,811 pigeons entered in the competition by Lubartow were released in the morning of June 29, 2024, at 06:43. The competition distances were different for each participating county. Thus, pigeon fanciers from Gorj had distances starting from 720 km, those from Mehedinți from 750 km, and those from Dolj starting from approximately 800 km. As expected, the arrivals on the first day were very few and only for pigeon fans from Dolj. More precisely, on the first day of the competition, only 7 pigeons arrived. Among them was the cock RO-2023-0167172, competed by the Frații Scorțar tandem. Moreover, arriving at 20:43:52, from the distance of 853 km, this was also the first pigeon registered in the competition. Even though six other pigeons arrived on the first evening of the competition, the speed developed by the Fraților Scorțar male, of 1,014.45 m/min., remained the best in the competition, bringing him first place on the launch.

Adrian Iordache won in breeders with 7 ranked pigeons from 7 employees

Adrian Iordache is the winner of the breeders' classification, in a competition of 411 participants, and his performance is one of the most impressive. He is also from Dolj and participated in the Lubartow stage with a team of 7 pigeons, managing to place all 7, an extremely rare situation in marathon competitions. The 1st place team in the competition (8.73 points) was made with the first two pigeons to arrive, which were recorded on the second day of the competition, at 06:37:44 and 06:42:48. It must be said that the 7th pigeon of Adrian Iordache arrived shortly after 12 o'clock, also on the second day of the competition, which proves their quality, but also the skill of the breeder Adrian Iordache.

In Mehedinți county, the 1st place in pigeons was won by the tandem of Moța Marinel and Iordache Nelu, and the 1st place in breeders was won by Cosmin Frățilescu. In Gorj, 1st place in pigeons went to the Toto+Sonea tandem, and 1st place in breeders was awarded to Voica Mihai-Valentin.
