More than half of the pigeon fanciers in Gorj chose Rezovo in Bulgaria as the launch location for the middle distance stages of the 2024 season. Thus, three such races were held, the distance being over 500 km for all participants, Rezovo being at the same time also a nominated stage for the Gold Club championship.
The third middle distance competition with launch from Rezovo took place on July 6, 2024. 31 breeders participated, who employed 451 pigeons. They were released at 05:46, and Bogdan Sorin was the star of the stage.
Bogdan Sorin (Târgu-Jiu) takes the 1st and 2nd places on the launch
Both the first place on the launch and the second place were awarded to Bogdan Sorin, from Târgu-Jiu. Its competition distance was 512 km, and the two pigeons arrived at the same time, being recorded only two seconds apart. The hen RO-2023-0370244 "stepped through the hatch" at 12:36:48. Two seconds later the cock RO-2023-0370161 was detected. The speed of movement of the two pigeons was 1,232 m/min.
Beyond these details, the special origins of the two pigeons must be remembered. It is known that Bogdan Sorin is one of the biggest investors in Romanian pigeon racing, but also that he competes in the championship directly with the sons of imported pigeons. For example, the winner of the racee is the offspring (great-granddaughter) of New Laureaat, but also of Montali and Yelena, the super-pigeons of Etienne Meirlaen. The cock from the second place is also a great-grandson of 2019 Barcelona International race winner and super breeder Jef. Bellow, the pedigrees of the pigeons.
