Romania: National Champions of the As Long distance category, season 2024

Ace Long distance is the category in which, annually, they are achieved among the fewest standards in the national catalog. For records of two and three years, automatically, even fewer pigeons manage to meet the norm, aspects that make this category one of the most difficult!

According to national regulations, flight plans can contain five Long distance races (+500 km). The norm of the Ace Long distance category is achieved by ranking five such competitions, which means that the pigeons that manage to meet this norm have a perfect evolution. Hence, of course, the small number of norms that are achieved annually. For example, in the 2024 season, 241 norms were achieved by mature pigeons and 143 by young pigeons.

Vicențiu Scripcaru (Galați), the national champion of the Ace Long distance category

In the national ranking of old pigeons, Vicentiu Scripcaru, from Galati, won the national champion. As I mentioned on other occasions, Vicentiu Scripcaru is one of the Romanian pigeon fanciers with the most national trophies won in the Long distance category. In 2024 alone, he won four more national trophies, three of them national 1st place. Among them is the national 1st place Ace Long distance, trophy won with male RO-2021-0677223. The accumulated coefficient was only 12.83 penalty points, the same male being also the national champion of theLong distance old birds category! So, an exceptional pigeon! The races where he competed so well had a distance of 591 km, starting in Tomaszow, Poland.

The national top of the category is completed by the Mirăuță Brothers (Suceava) and Marian Marinescu (Bucharest).

Team Iordan George + Jan, champions at Yearlings

At yearlings, the 1st national place was won by the team Iordan George + Jan, from Argeș. Although they competed on a new route, with launches from Greece, the pigeon fanciers from Argeș had quite a few achievements in 2024. Thus, in addition to the 1st national place in the Ace Long distance Yearlings, the 3rd national place in this category was also won in this county, by pigeon fancier Ilie Stan. Moreover, the difference between the two pigeons is very small regarding the coefficient, respectively 3 penalty points. The champion cock has the series RO-2023-0623136 and has accumulated 112.67 penalty points. The five long-distance stages were 548 km long for the tandem, starting in Paliouri, Greece.
