In the national championship of Romania, in addition to the national trophies up for grabs in each flight category, there are also several special trophies. These are special awards both for their name and for the criteria that must be met to win them, but also for what they represent as performance. 

Two of these national trophies are the "Carol I" Trophy, established in memory of the first king of Romania, and the "Golden Wing" Trophy. The "Carol I" trophy is awarded to the pigeon of the year, to the pigeon with the best score in 10 competitions (stages in each distance category). Instead, the "Golden Wing" Trophy is won by the breeders, the norm being achieved from the scores achieved by the first two team pigeons in the 10 stages designated in the flight plan for the National Ace category.

Brothers Marcel and Iulian Lazăr have been competing together since 2013, within the Columbofile Suceava Branch. The two compete annually with approximately 40 widow pigeons, which they employ at all stages of the flight plan. After the second long distance race of the season, the two brothers divide their flight group into several teams so that they can participate in all the stages that are organized. This is what happened in the 2024 season, when the results of the two were special. Among other important trophies, the Lazar brothers also won the two mentioned national trophies, "Carol I" and "Aripa de Aur". 

The "Carol I" trophy was won by the cock RO-22-976102, who accumulated 480.06 points in the 10 competitions for the National Ace. His good brother, with the series RO-22-976146, competed almost as well. He placed nine races, but, the most important aspect is that he was as serious a team pigeon as his brother, contributing decisively to winning the "Golden Wing" trophy.
