Ace Marathon is perhaps the most spectacular of the categories dedicated to distance pigeons. Until recently, the National Championship provided for only three marathon races, with a distance greater than 700 km. As the As Marathon category requires the ranking of three races, the pigeons that managed to make this category were those who did not miss a single race. Things have remained the same in the present, with the mention that one more category, Extreme, has been added, but it has separate contests.
The number of marathon races on a competition plan, in Romania, as is well known, is limited to three, the races having to have a distance of more than 700 km. Three Extreme competitions can also be organized for marathon pigeons, races with a distance of over 900 km. With the three marathon races, the norms for the Marathon and Ace Marathon categories can be achieved.

National Top 3 As Marathon Yearlings, 2023 season

Thus, only 640 yearlings managed to qualify the three marathon stages, and the national catalog is opened by Ispas Mihăiță, from Olt. Its champion is male RO-2022-0045030, whose coefficient is 15.22 penalty points. All three stages that he ranked for this norm were launched from Poland, the town of Wlodawa, which for Mihăiță Ispas had a distance of 829 km. In the first race, the national champion of the category took 45th place out of 8,860 pigeons. In the second he took the 52nd place out of 3,434 pigeons, and in the last stage he even took the 1st place on the launch, against 1,929 pigeons.
