Top 3 National Extreme category, 2024 season

In order to meet the norm of the Extreme category, the pigeons must place two races with a distance of over 900 km. The norms are centralized for both mature and young pigeons. There is also the category Extreme for fanciers, with the mention that to achieve this norm three races are needed and not just two, as in the case of pigeons.

Top 3 national Extreme Yearlings

Even if it is not so easy for young pigeons to rank at races over 900 km, the Extreme races were also approached with many young pigeons by the Romanian fanciers. The proof is the 936 rules made by the young fliers. As for their results, the national podium is entirely occupied by pigeon fanciers from the province of Moldova. On the 1st national place, with 1.10 penalty points, we find the hen RO-23-0070728, competed by the Solovăstru Family from Suceava. This was ranked 8th out of 17,573 pigeons (953 km) and 10th out of 15,563 pigeons (956 km). A hen also took second place, with series RO-23-1101418, competed by Ovidiu Canciuc from Botoșani, who obtained a coefficient of 3.29 penalty points, after placing 2nd out of 2,392 pigeons (947 km) and 43rd out of 17,573 pigeons (939 km). The third place also went to a hen, with the series RO-23-0711320, whose score is 3.46 penalty points. This was competed by Vasile Onisie from Suceava and ranked 3rd out of 10,643 pigeons (1010 km) and 30th out of 9,447 pigeons (1005 km).

Top 3 national Extreme Old birds

As expected, the norms achieved by the old pigeons in the Extreme category are much more numerous. No less than 3,657 old pigeons managed to qualify the two necessary Extreme races, and the tie for the first national places was only a few hundredths. Thus, the 1st national place was won by Sorin Săndulache, from Bacău, with hen RO-2020-0278118. This accrued only 0.30 penalty points after being 2nd out of 17,541 pigeons (1,132km) and 1st out of 5,319 pigeons (1,124km). On the 2nd and 3rd places, with scores of 0.46 and 2.01 penalty points, were positioned two hens competed by Radu Dogaru, from Tulcea. Its performance is downright amazing as it is part of one of the smallest branches in the country, with only 23 active pigeon fanciers in 2024, and in all four Extreme races it covered a distance of 1,027 km.

Top 3 national Extreme Fanciers

As I said, if in the case of pigeons it takes two classifications at the Extreme races to achieve the norm, for fanciers things are different. The team must perform at all three races over 900 km of the season, so the difficulty is much greater. However, 305 norms were achieved. The 1st national place was won by Mihai-Cristian Iacoban, from Suceava, with 64.23 penalty points. He is followed by Ionuț Drăgușin, from Brăila, with 90.79 penalty points, and Gheorghe Andreica, also from Suceava, whose coefficient was 91.95 penalty points.
