Țugui Mihai & Lucian (SV), multiple national champions in one-day races

Recognized for many years for the extraordinary results of the Marathon, the province of Moldova is "recovering" lately also in the categories with short stages. At least in the last three competitive years, more and more breeders from this region are starting to access the national podium of the considered one-day categories more and more often.

One such example, very conclusive by the way, is the tandem formed by pigeon fancier Mihai Țugui and his son Lucian.

Bushy national achievements achieved in a very short time

        The two live in Voitinel, Suceava county, and started competing in 2018. Mihai Țugui (his son is still very young, being only 9 years old) currently co mpetes mainly in all short stages and including long distance, where he has already obtained many results. With pigeons suitable for these categories, Mihai Țugui has several national trophies in his record: 1 National General Mature, 1 National General Youth, 1 National General Breeders, 2 National General Mature, 3 National Middle Distance Mature, 3 National G-Youth (all obtained in 2022), 1 National General Palmares and 2 National General Breeders Palmares (obtained in 2023). Apart from these, his county and provincial record is much richer, consisting of more than 160 trophies.

       The approximately 85-100 fliers are competed for widowhood without meeting a mate before engaging in the race. Between stages in the first part of the season, they are taken to one or two training sessions.

A family of champions

       Most of Mihai Țugui's pigeons come from Germany, from breeders like Rainer Puttmann, but also from Romania, Ciprian Prelipcean being one of the Romanian breeders from whom Mihai Țugui purchased pigeons. His queen consists of 50 couples, but in Mihai Țugui's kennel, a real line of champions is already beginning to take shape. For example, the pigeons "Queen 225" and "Hercule", which won the 1st and 2nd National General Matures in the year 2022, are nest brothers. They come from Ciprian Prelipcean's pigeons, having some of his best flyers behind them. They are also related to this year's champion of Mihai Țugui from the General Palmares category. .
