Mihai Ungureanu stands out as a prominent figure in the pigeon racing world of Prahova County and also at the national level, being recognized for his notable performances in long-distance competitions over the past two years.
Starting his pigeon racing career in 2000, Mihai initially dedicated himself to the sprint-middle distance categories, achieving remarkable results in various competitions. However, aware of the challenges and difficulties associated with these categories, he made a bold transition to the higher categories.
The acquisition of high-quality birds from renowned Romanian breeders, such as Stanescu&Dobre, Cosmin Olteanu, and Ariciu Cătălin, quickly propelled him into the spotlight of pigeon racing at the county, provincial, and national levels.
In 2019, Mihai Ungureanu made a significant transition from short-distance to long-distance categories, and in a very short time, his results became evident at the highest level. As a result, he secured 3rd place in the National Olympic Team, in the Fond Category.
His ambition to excel in long-distance categories continued into the 2023 season when he dominated the AS Extreme Marathon category. Undoubtedly, this upward trajectory will continue, especially with strategic acquisitions from breeders like Jan Theelen, Gebr. Kuypers, and Jan Ernest. Mihai Ungureanu is increasingly establishing himself as an influential and successful figure in pigeon racing, solidifying his status as an elite competitor in long-distance competitions.
