Historic race from Pau (International) in 2024

International Pau is one of the standard races of pigeon fanciers in the West. The competition with an extraordinary age and scope kept the entire pigeon fanciers breath in suspense in 2024, especially since it was a very special race.

As is well known, Pau International is a marathon race, which offers considerable distances especially for pigeon fanciers in the Netherlands. The launch location is somewhere in the south of France, and this year 13,130 mature pigeons were entered, because Pau is a race where only mature pigeons can be entered. The peculiarity of this year was the fact that, due to unfavorable weather conditions, the pigeons were kept at the launch site for no less than seven days. Having been boarded since June 17, they were released only on June 24, at 08:00.

Van Gils J.W. is the winner

The International Pau was won in 2024 by the Dutch pigeon fancier Van Gils J.W., from the town of Oosterhout. The winning pigeon is a hen and was registered at 05:59. Given the distance of 1,003.7 km, the resulting speed was 1,046.49 m/min.

 

De Rijck Guido & Tom (Lier) won in Belgium

In Belgium, Pau was won by the tandem of De Rijck Guido & Tom (Lier). Also a hen, their winner arrived at the stud at 05:09, flying the 942.7 km of the race at an average speed of 1,036.49 m/min.

In Germany, the national 1st place was won by Groh Eric+Albert, and in the United Kingdom by Johnathan Palmer.
